Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease is a fatal and devastating disease of the nervous system killing two to five Canadians every day. On October 4th and 5th, the Montreal Neurological Institute at ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û will host the 3rd Annual ALS Symposium of the Fondation André-Delambre. The symposium is chaired by Dr. Heather Durham and Dr. Jean-Pierre Julien. Researchers and clinicians from around the world will come together to discuss recent progress in ALS research and treatment.

André Delambre, who passed away in January 2006 of this terrible disease, was the right hand man and friend of Céline Dion and René Angélil. In creating the foundation which bears his name, Mr. Delambre made a pledge to help patients and their families, raise awareness for ALS and support research. The Board of directors, under the direction of Mr. René Angélil, have undertaken the commitment of honouring André Delambre and continuing his fight.

Recent discoveries into the causes of ALS and new therapeutic avenues will be discussed at a press conference. Come to learn more about this disease and the latest developments for new treatments.
