Published: 28 February 2011

MONTREAL - 六合彩开奖结果's Olivier Bouchard from Montreal and Simon Bibeau of St. Bruno, Que., have been selected as all-stars in the Quebec University Basketball League. Bouchard made the first squad, while Bibeau was picked to the second dream team in voting conducted by the league's five head coaches. Bibeau was also named to the all-rookie team.

Concordia Stingers' Kyle Desmarais (Montreal, QC) and Laval Rouge et Or's J茅r么me Turcotte-Routhier (Quebec City, QC) were elected Players of the Year.

Desmarais had the second best point per game average (19.3) and shooting percentage (.554) in the league. The Concordia point guard also closed the season third for the steals per game average (2.2) and fourth for defensive rebounds per game (4.3). He was the second most used player in the league with an average of 33:54 minutes of play per game.

Turcotte-Routhier placed third in the league for the point per game average (16.8) and the rebound per game average (6.6), but he led the league for steals per game (2.6) and defensive rebounds per game (4.7). The Law student and former Ste. Foy Cegep Dynamique player is also the RSEQ's candidate for the CIS Ken Shields Award, which he also won in 2008. This prize rewards a student-athlete who excels in three areas: basketball, studies and community involvement.

In 2010-11, he was involved with the Special Court for Lebanon attempting to shed light in the assassination of President Rafic Hariri in 2005. He gave a lecture on International听 Criminal Justice at the Ste. Foy Cegep for the 350 student-athletes of the Ste. Foy Dynamique's sports program. Vice President of the Quebec Basketball Federation board of administration, Turcotte-Routhier has given over 15 lectures to youth on the themes of physical activity and studies.

For a second straight season, UQAM Citadins' guard Eric Cote-Kougnima (Gatineau, QC) was picked for the Defensive Player of the Year. The Business student had the second best assist per game average (4.1) in the league. Cote-Kougnima was the busiest player this season with a playing time average of 34:30 minutes per game. The former Outaouais Cegep Griffons player also posted the fourth best blocked shot per game average (0.6) and he came second for the rebounds per match average (6.6).

His team mate Alexandre Bernard (Gatineau, QC) was awarded the Rookie of the Year title. The Biology student had the top league-wide shooting percentage (.576) and offensive rebounds average (3.1). This other Griffons graduate also ranked fifth for total rebounds per game (6.2).

Finally, the Laval Rouge et Or's Jacques Paiement Jr was named Coach of the Year after leading his side to the second place in the standings with a 11-5 record. The Rouge et Or counts on the best offence in the league with an average of 83.8 points per game. Leader of the capital city side since November 2008, Paiement is a former Ste. Foy Dynamiques coach and he led Team Quebec U-17 and the Jean-de-Brebeuf College Dynamiques. He holds a law degree from the University of Montreal and a political science degree from the University of Nebraska.

Playoff time!

Both semi-finals open on Tuesday night at 7 pm (ET) when the Stingers host the Citadins at Concordia and the Redmen are out in Quebec City to visit the Rouge et Or at the PEPS. The Stingers will be a handful for the defending champs from UQAM after winning all four clashes between these two this season. The Rouge et Or has won the first three games before 六合彩开奖结果 rebounded to pick up the last result. The semi-final winners will face in the Friday night final.
