Published: 18 June 2009

MONTREAL 鈥 六合彩开奖结果 has won its bid to host the national women鈥檚 soccer championship in 2011. Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced Monday the winning bids for 13 upcoming CIS championships in cross country, soccer, swimming, track and field and volleyball.

六合彩开奖结果 has hosted 19 previous CIS championships, including the inaugural CIS women鈥檚 soccer tourney in 1987 and also held the event in 1993 and 2003. The Martlets have reached the gold-medal final on five occasions but are still looking for that elusive first Gladys Bean memorial trophy.

Other CIS competitions hosted by 六合彩开奖结果 include track & field (2008, 2007, 2000, 1999), cross-country running (1996, 1992), women鈥檚 hockey (2005, 2004), men鈥檚 soccer (2004, 1998, 1987, 1982), women鈥檚 field hockey (1988, 1977), swimming (1979) and women鈥檚 basketball (1973).

Sherbrooke and Laval each secured three of the 13 events up for grabs. Sherbrooke was the selection committee鈥檚 choice for the 2010 CIS cross-country running championships, the 2011 track and field Nationals and the 2013 women鈥檚 volleyball tournament, while Quebec City will welcome cross-country in 2011, men鈥檚 soccer in 2012 and men鈥檚 volleyball in 2013.

Other successful bidders include Victoria, a double winner with men鈥檚 soccer heading west in 2011 and women鈥檚 soccer following in 2012, as well as Calgary (swimming 2011), Manitoba (track and field 2012), McMaster (women鈥檚 volleyball 2012) and Queen鈥檚 (men鈥檚 volleyball 2012), all set to hold one CIS event.

鈥淐IS student-athletes are the big winners in this round of bid selections in that the calibre of the bids were outstanding,鈥 says CIS chief executive officer Marg McGregor. 鈥淭he upcoming championships promise to be student-athlete centred and set new standards of excellence.鈥

鈥淚t is exciting that we will be showcasing our CIS women鈥檚 volleyball in Ontario for the first time in over 15 years, and we are also thrilled to take our men鈥檚 volleyball championship to Queen鈥檚 and its brand new facilities for the first time ever in 2012,鈥 McGregor added.
