The MUHC is pleased that another redevelopment milestone has been reached

Published: 18 June 2007

The 六合彩开奖结果 Health Centre (MUHC) expressed today its satisfaction over the Government of Quebec鈥檚 announcement about its preferred financing model for Montreal鈥檚 health care modernization projects. A public-private partnership (PPP) will guide the construction and maintenance of the facilities on the Glen Campus.

鈥淭he Glen Campus is now one of the greenest sites in Montreal and is ready to be built on,鈥 said Dr. Arthur T. Porter, MUHC Director General and CEO. 鈥淒etermining the financing method was essential and I am pleased that we can now move forward with the procurement process. All our documents are ready for prospective developers. Meanwhile, important renovation work is already underway at the Mountain Campus.鈥

In July 2006, the firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers was selected to perform a business case analysing the benefits and risks of both the conventional and the PPP methods of procurement and construction. The results of that analysis were submitted to the Government at the end of December 2006.

鈥淭he MUHC鈥檚 redevelopment is a single project located on two campuses,鈥 stated Senator David Angus, Chairman, MUHC Board of Directors. 鈥淲e fully support a PPP process for the Glen Campus and a conventional approach for the Mountain Campus.鈥

The next step in the PPP process is to issue a Request for Qualification (RFQ), which should occur by the end of June 2007. Thereafter, potential bidders will be short-listed and a detailed Request for Proposal will be issued to select developers.

John Rae, Chairman of the MUHC鈥檚 Best Care for Life campaign, echoed Dr. Porter鈥檚 comments. 鈥淭his news is most positive. The generosity of our community has already brought our campaign to more than half of its objective. As we move forward with such key phases as the Joint Corporate Campaign with our colleagues at the CHUM, this announcement will only bolster our fundraising efforts.鈥
