Saku Koivu opens MUHC PET/CT scanner
Saku Koivu, whose foundation, in partnership with the MGH Foundation, provided significant leadership and financial support, will officially open the PET/CT facility at the Montreal General Hospital of the MUHC. Dr. Robert Lisbona will be on hand to talk about the clinical applications of this technology.

As the name implies, the PET/CT combines both PET (positron emission tomography) and CT (computed tomography) scanners, which provide health professionals with detailed three-dimensional images of patient metabolism and anatomy. The exquisite sensitivity of the PET/CT scan permits the detection of cancer in the early stages, and provides valuable information on the spread of disease and the progress of therapies.
