Water: Preserving a precious commodity

To mark World Water Day (March 22), Bioresource Engineering Professor Chandra Madramootoo a member of the steering committee of the Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture 鈥� expands on the theme of this year鈥檚 World Water Day: Valuing Water, and describes the goals of the federal government鈥檚 Canada Water Agency, which is in the process of being created. He is contributing to this effort.听

Reducing water scarcity possible by 2050

Water scarcity is not a problem just for the developing world. In California, legislators are currently proposing a $7.5 billion emergency water plan to their voters; and U.S. federal officials last year warned residents of Arizona and Nevada that they could face cuts in Colorado River water deliveries in 2016.
