Indigenous Speakers Series: Giving Life to Joyce鈥檚 Principle in the Academy

鈥淛oyce鈥檚 Principle aims to guarantee to all Indigenous people the right of equitable access, without any discrimination, to all social and health services, as well as the right to enjoy the best possible physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.鈥�

Joyce's Principle is a document created by the Atikamekw Nation and Manawan First Nation following the death of Mrs. Joyce Echaquan on Sept. 28, 2020, at the Joliette Hospital Center in Lanaudi猫re, Qu茅bec, during which she was subjected to verbally violent and racist statements by health workers.
