OBJECTIVES

This language training project combines lecture courses and informal meetings with English-speaking community members. The project aims to combine English-speaking individuals from the field with learners who have already taken English courses with the previous cohort, as well as new participants, under the supervision and guidance of the training organization that delivered the initial training.

NEEDS AND PRIORITIES

People from the community will be recruited by the CAMI, CASA and Vision Gasp茅-Perc茅 Now community organizations, in collaboration with Groupe Collegia, based on set criteria and each institution鈥檚 needs with regard to English-language healthcare and social services.

In preparation for skill maintenance activities with the students, Groupe Collegia will first meet with the recruits to guide them in their role as coaches paired with students (e.g. brief training session on how to correct, how to provide professional assistance, leadership abilities, etc.).

    • Sharing a meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner outside working hours) to allow workers to put their knowledge into practice with community members;
    • Developing relationships with the Anglophone community by participating in activities offered by that community;
    • Holding meetings with groups and resource people to discuss more specialized themes related to the health and social services field.
    • Participating in role playing to put knowledge into practice as part of common professional situation simulations.
